2026 ISME-Alma Dal Co Early career Award. The Award is assigned to Isabelle Laforest-Lapointe. ISME and the Alma Dal Co Foundation renamed the Early Career Award to the ISME Alma Dal Co Award to commemorate the life and work of Alma Dal Co (1989 – 2022). The Award aims to honour Alma Dal Co’s significant contributions to the field of microbial ecology, preserve her intellectual heritage, and inspire early career researchers to pursue groundbreaking research in the spirit of Alma Dal Co’s passion for knowledge, innovation, and multidisciplinarity. The Award will be assigned during the 20th International Symposium on Microbial Ecology, in Auckland on 16-21 August 2026.

On September 18-19, 2025 in Lausanne, the International Computational Biology Symposium sponsored by Computational Biology Department of UNIL and organized by professors Giovanni Ciriello and Zoltán Kutalik, hosted the Session dedicated to Alma Dal Co research, with the Alma Dal Co Memorial Lecture by prof. Michael Brenner.

On September 29 -October 4 , 2025 the Alma Dal Co School on Collective Behaviour has taken place at Istituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere ed Arti in Venice. Directed by professors Silvia De Monte, Flavio Seno, Simon Van Vliet the School is an interdisciplinary meeting on collective behaviour across biological systems. The Alma Dal Co School aims to inspire early career researchers to pursue groundbreaking research in the spirit of Alma Dal Co’s passion for knowledge, innovation, and multidisciplinary research.


On October 3rd at 6:00 pm, was held the Lecture on Venice and the Lagoon at Sala del Portego in Palazzo Franchetti, seat of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere ed Arti (IVSLA). Professor Andrea Rinaldo, president of IVSLA, opened with Considerations on Venice in a Changing World. Professor Francesco Musco, president of the research consortium CORILA, presented Venice and the Regulated Lagoon.

On October 4th at 5:00 pm, a public Conversation on Science and Music , was held at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Music in Venice. Sandro Cappelletto will conducted the Conversation with Massimo Cacciari, philosopher, Daniela Perani neuroscientist and Cardinal Matteo Zuppi. The Conservatory Doctoral students participated also with new musical compositions.

On November 29th at 5:30 pm the Premio Alma DalCo e Concerto dei Vincitori (3rd edition) will be held in Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello in Venice. The 5 scholarships are reserved for the best graduates in solo singing (2), choir direction and composition (2) and piano (1). The Commission choose a part of Alma’s poem Onde for the choir composition. Reservations will be available on the Conservatory web site.
