Andrea Rinaldo

Andrea Rinaldo is a Professor of Hydraulic Constructions at the University of Padua (since 1986) and also serves as a Professor and Director at the Laboratory of Ecohydrology, École Polytechnique Fédérale Lausanne (CH) (since 2008). He assumed the presidency of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere ed Arti in 2021. Rinaldo earned his degree in Civil Hydraulic Engineering with top honors (110/110 cum laude) from the University of Padua in 1978. He later obtained his Ph.D. in Fluid Mechanics from Purdue University in 1983. In recognition of his contributions to the field, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Université du Québec-Laval & INRS (CA) in 2014 and of the Stockholm Water Prize in 2023.
